  Survey result: JW views on Homosexuality

  were you more liberal that your jw peers?.

  a 2001 survey asked for a response to the statement: "i believe homosexuality is immoral".

  based on the religion of the respondents, it found that found that 84% of jws responded 'yes', compared to 20% of jews, 30% of 'no religion', and 48% of americans and 36% of australians overall.

  here's a nice sickly sweet article from fl about the tireless efforts of the local neighbourhood witnessess working for your salvation despite terrible persecution... i really liked the bit where a lady who takes in stray cats and dogs also invited the jw's in!.

  Court case on DA/DF relevent to SilentLambs?

  i've not seen this us court of appeal case before but think it may be important re the silentlamb cases and general da/df legal issues.

  after her da, a janice paul sued the wts because she was "upset by her shunning by her former friends and co-religionists alleging common law torts of defamation, invasion of privacy, fraud, and outrageous conduct".

  the court dismissed her claim observing that "*883 [7] we find the practice of shunning not to constitute a sufficient threat to the peace, safety, or morality of the community as to warrant state intervention.

  My 5-minute part

  i gave a 5 minute part the other day.

  i'd readied my trusty navy blue double-breaster and put on the same tie i wore when i gave the bible reading at the circuit assembly once (actually i bought the suit for the same occasion), but this time i had a part at the district convention venue!.

  i listened to the two earlier speakers, and just knew they'd get w. my name was announced and i stepped up to the platform, slipped behind the podium as cool as can be, settled my notes, noticed where the mike was, lent my hands on the podium just so, gave a couple of people eye contact, gave an introduction to arouse interest, watched my pausing and my hissing ssss and popping pppp and general proper use of microphone and my modulation.

  JW author in radio interview

  an excellent radio show interview with andrew holden discussing his new book 'jehovah's witnesses' is available as the transcript at http://www.abc.net.au/rn/relig/spirit/stories/s562491.htm it's not at all negative, just quite an accurate account of what they're about basically from their side.

  for example he discusses their rationalist approach to religion and so on.

  they also interview a city overseer, (presumably) a pioneer and a counsellor for ex-jw.. recommended reading.

  JW 'too easy' ;-)

  one funny thing, one interesting thing - funny: using jocular language to make a point, a visitor at our college meeting pointed at me as a marker (at random) and said '... to get a pass from you you heartless methodist prick, you're so hard that you left the jehovah's because they were too easy, a student has to...!!!

  worst thing was i couldn't tell anyone why that was so funny to me...!!!

  so i just had to post it!!!

  My secret rebellion...

  i had a little secret rebelion i kept up all the way through my jw time!

  i refused to learn the books of the bible or to remember scriptures!!!

  even when i was a genuine, super-zelous ms!!.

  Young JW murdered

  got the news through the week that a victim of a fatal bashing was a 22-year old jw.

  apparently he was a very soft and fragile sort of a guy, but when his group confronted by another leaving the movies he got pushed/hit and hit his head on the ground.

  he sufferd brain damage and later died.. a very sad event for everyone who knew him and i'm sure it somthing of regret for everyone that an apparently decent guy was so unexpectedly killed just going to the movies at the local cinima.. here's a local news report: http://www.thewest.com.au/20020207/news/state/tw-news-state-home-sto43432.html

  My sinful state

  i'm just past my 3rd birthday as a freeman and i was reflecting on my 'sinful state'.

  what badness have i worked lately?.
